Warranty & Policies
Important terms covering ACS purchases, returns, cores, diagnostics, programming, professional installation, warranty claims, marketplace orders, privacy and related customer responsibilities.
01Terms & Conditions+
These Terms & Conditions apply to purchases, repair services, programming services, diagnostic services, exchanges, warranty services, and other transactions with ACS / Auto Computer Specialist (“ACS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By placing an order, submitting a product for service, authorizing repair work, or otherwise purchasing an ACS product or service, the Customer agrees to the applicable terms disclosed for that transaction, including these Terms, the ACS Limited Lifetime Warranty, Return & Refund Policy, Core Return Policy, and other applicable product-specific terms.
Customer Information
The Customer is responsible for providing accurate information, including:
- Name and contact information;
- Billing and shipping address;
- Vehicle year, make, and model;
- VIN;
- Engine;
- Transmission;
- Original part number;
- Hardware number;
- Calibration information;
- Emissions configuration; and
- Other information reasonably requested by ACS.
ACS is not responsible for incompatibility, incorrect programming, delays, additional expenses, or other problems caused by materially inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the Customer.
Order Acceptance
An order confirmation does not necessarily constitute final acceptance of an order.
ACS reserves the right, subject to applicable law, to reject or cancel an order because of:
- Incorrect pricing;
- Product-description errors;
- Inventory problems;
- Programming incompatibility;
- Suspected fraud;
- Payment problems;
- Incorrect vehicle information;
- Product unavailability; or
- Other legitimate business reasons.
If ACS cancels an order before providing the applicable product or service, amounts collected for the canceled portion will be handled according to applicable law and payment-processing requirements.
Product Information
ACS makes reasonable efforts to accurately describe products and services.
Automotive products may differ in appearance because of production revisions, remanufacturing processes, superseded part numbers, interchangeability, or other manufacturer differences.
Compatibility should be determined using appropriate vehicle and part information rather than appearance alone.
Vehicle Diagnosis
Customers are responsible for having the vehicle properly diagnosed before ordering a replacement component.
A diagnostic trouble code does not necessarily prove that the component referenced by that code is defective.
ACS does not guarantee that replacing a particular component will correct a Customer's vehicle problem.
Professional Installation
Professional installation and acceptable proof of professional installation are required for warranty eligibility on applicable products.
DIY, home, or self-installation is not eligible for warranty coverage unless expressly authorized by ACS in writing or otherwise required by applicable law.
Complete requirements are contained in the ACS Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Limitation of Responsibility
ACS warrants only the applicable ACS product or specific ACS repair/service.
ACS does not warrant the Customer's entire vehicle.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, ACS is not responsible for losses or damage caused by conditions outside a covered defect in ACS's product or workmanship, including misdiagnosis, vehicle wiring, voltage problems, poor grounds, short circuits, failed vehicle components, improper installation, improper programming, tuning, vehicle modifications, mechanical failure, oil starvation, contamination, or other vehicle-side conditions.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
02Return & Refund Policy+
30-Day Return Period
Eligible return requests must be made within 30 days from the original date of delivery.
Expiration of the refund period does not terminate an otherwise valid written warranty.
Return Authorization Required
Customers must contact ACS before returning a product.
An RMA or other return authorization may be required.
Unauthorized returns may be refused.
Returning a product does not automatically establish eligibility for refund, exchange, replacement, or warranty coverage.
20% Restocking Fee
Approved non-defective returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee, except where otherwise stated by ACS or prohibited by applicable law.
Applicable shipping, diagnostic, programming, cloning, calibration, and completed service charges may be non-refundable.
Return Condition
Products must be returned in the condition required by the applicable return authorization.
Products may be ineligible for non-defective return if they have been:
- Installed;
- Burned;
- Overheated;
- Flooded;
- Exposed to liquid;
- Corroded;
- Opened;
- Disassembled;
- Soldered;
- Modified;
- Tuned;
- Physically damaged;
- Returned with broken connectors;
- Returned with damaged pins;
- Returned with a damaged housing;
- Tampered with; or
- Otherwise materially altered after delivery.
Customer-Specific Products
Custom-programmed, VIN-specific, cloned, calibrated, special-order, or otherwise Customer-specific products may be non-returnable once the applicable Customer-specific work has been performed, except for qualifying warranty claims or where otherwise required by law.
Misdiagnosed Vehicles
A properly functioning product is not defective merely because installation does not correct the Customer's vehicle problem.
A return requested because of vehicle misdiagnosis is treated as a non-defective return and remains subject to applicable return eligibility requirements and charges.
03Core Return Policy+
Certain ACS products require return of a qualifying core.
When an order states that a core is required, the qualifying core must be returned within 30 days of the applicable delivery date unless ACS states otherwise in writing.
Warranty Condition
Acceptable Core
The returned core must be the correct qualifying product for the applicable transaction.
ACS may reject a core that is:
- Incorrect;
- Incomplete;
- Stripped;
- Substituted;
- Materially disassembled;
- Missing important components;
- Destroyed;
- Severely burned;
- Severely flooded;
- Excessively corroded;
- Unidentifiable; or
- Otherwise unsuitable as the required core.
Returning an unacceptable core may not satisfy the core requirement.
Core Shipping
Customers should retain tracking information showing shipment and delivery.
Unless otherwise stated by ACS, Customer is responsible for applicable core-return shipping.
ACS may inspect a returned core before approving applicable core credit.
04Shipping & Delivery Policy+
Shipping Information
Customers are responsible for providing an accurate and complete shipping address.
Customers should review shipping information before completing an order.
Transit Times
Estimated shipping or delivery dates are estimates and are not guaranteed unless ACS expressly states otherwise.
Carrier delays may occur outside ACS's control.
Shipping Damage
Customers should inspect packages promptly after delivery.
Visible or suspected shipping damage should be reported promptly.
Customers should retain:
- Original shipping box;
- Packing materials;
- Shipping label;
- Damaged product; and
- Photographs of the package and product.
ACS may require this information to assist with a carrier claim.
Products Shipped to ACS
Customers are responsible for adequately packaging products sent to ACS.
Customers are encouraged to use:
- Adequate cushioning;
- Appropriate anti-static protection for electronics;
- Connector protection;
- Tracking;
- Signature confirmation where appropriate; and
- Shipping insurance.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, ACS is not responsible for loss or damage occurring before ACS receives a Customer's shipment.
05Diagnostic & Repair Service Policy+
ACS's standard diagnostic/evaluation fee for applicable repairs is $150.
Where required by applicable law, ACS will disclose and obtain authorization for the applicable diagnostic or estimate charge before performing the covered service.
The diagnostic fee compensates ACS for applicable evaluation, inspection, testing, communication, disassembly where authorized, and diagnostic work.
Payment of the diagnostic fee does not guarantee that:
- A product is repairable;
- Every possible defect can be identified;
- Repairing the submitted product will repair the Customer's vehicle;
- The vehicle was correctly diagnosed before the product was submitted; or
- The vehicle does not have additional problems.
Once the authorized diagnostic/evaluation service has been performed, the applicable diagnostic charge is non-refundable to the extent permitted by law.
Additional Repairs
Authorization of diagnostic work does not automatically authorize additional repairs when separate authorization is required.
ACS may request Customer authorization before performing additional chargeable repair work.
06Warranty Testing / No-Fault-Found Policy+
A Customer's statement, diagnostic code, vehicle symptom, or third-party diagnosis does not by itself establish that an ACS product is defective.
Products submitted for warranty consideration may be inspected and tested by ACS.
If ACS reasonably determines that a product functions correctly or that no covered defect exists, the product is not automatically eligible for replacement merely because it did not correct the Customer's vehicle problem.
When properly disclosed, authorized, and permitted by applicable law, ACS may charge the applicable $150 diagnostic/testing fee for evaluation of a warranty return where no covered defect is found.
Customer may also be responsible for applicable return shipping.
07Programming, Cloning & Plug-and-Play Policy+
When ACS advertises a product as “Plug-and-Play,” this means ACS has performed the programming or configuration expressly represented as included with that particular product or order.
Plug-and-Play does not necessarily mean that every vehicle will immediately operate without additional vehicle-side procedures.
Depending upon the application, additional procedures may include:
- Key programming;
- Immobilizer synchronization;
- Security relearn;
- Anti-theft relearn;
- VIN synchronization;
- Crankshaft relearn;
- Camshaft relearn;
- Throttle relearn;
- Transmission adaptation;
- Variant coding;
- Module initialization;
- DTC clearing; or
- Other manufacturer-specific procedures.
Unless expressly included in writing, such additional vehicle-side procedures are Customer's responsibility.
Original Module Data
Programming or cloning may depend upon data contained in a Customer's original module.
ACS cannot guarantee the integrity of data from a module that is corrupted, damaged, modified, tuned, improperly programmed, incomplete, or unreadable.
ACS is not responsible for problems caused by incorrect or unusable data originating from the Customer's original module.
Completed Services
Programming, cloning, VIN writing, calibration, bench testing, diagnostic evaluation, and similar completed services may be non-refundable to the extent permitted by applicable law.
08Professional Installation Policy+
Applicable ACS products must be installed by a qualified professional automotive repair facility or professional automotive technician.
For warranty claims, ACS may require a legitimate paid installation invoice or repair order identifying:
- Installer/shop;
- Contact information;
- Customer;
- VIN;
- Vehicle;
- Mileage;
- Installation date;
- Product installed;
- Labor performed;
- Diagnostic work;
- Programming/calibration/relearn work; and
- Amount paid.
ACS may reasonably verify installation information with the installer.
09Product-Specific Installation Requirements+
Electronic Modules
For ECM, ECU, PCM, TCM, BCM, TIPM, FICM, ABS and similar products, ACS may require evidence that applicable vehicle systems were checked, including:
- Battery;
- Charging system;
- Powers and grounds;
- Wiring;
- Connectors;
- Electrical shorts;
- CAN/network;
- Related coils, injectors, actuators and solenoids; and
- Programming/relearn procedures.
Turbochargers
Turbocharger installation may require documentation showing:
- Professional installation;
- Oil/filter service;
- Oil-feed inspection/replacement;
- Oil-return inspection;
- Appropriate lubrication;
- Intake/intercooler inspection; and
- Correction of the original cause of turbo failure.
Failures caused by oil starvation, contamination, foreign objects, excessive boost, improper tuning, improper installation, excessive temperature, engine failure, or failure to correct the original cause are not ACS product defects.
Electronic Turbo Actuators
Actuator installation may require applicable calibration, initialization, adjustment, and relearn procedures.
A replacement actuator does not repair a mechanically defective turbocharger.
Failures caused by sticking vanes, seized mechanisms, carbon buildup, incorrect linkage adjustment, wiring problems, voltage problems, or underlying turbo failure are not ACS actuator defects.
10Modified / Tuned Vehicle Policy+
Warranty coverage may be denied where the claimed failure was caused or contributed to by unauthorized:
- Performance tuning;
- Third-party programming;
- Custom calibration;
- Modified wiring;
- Engine/transmission swaps;
- Excessive boost;
- Non-factory configurations; or
- Emissions-system modifications.
This may include failures caused or contributed to by modifications involving DPF, EGR, SCR/DEF, catalyst, boost, engine, or transmission systems.
Nothing in this policy authorizes disabling or modifying equipment required by law.
11Privacy Policy+
ACS may collect information necessary to provide products and services, including:
- Name;
- Address;
- Telephone number;
- Email address;
- Billing information;
- Shipping information;
- Order history;
- VIN;
- Vehicle information;
- Product/part numbers;
- Installer information;
- Diagnostic documentation;
- Uploaded photographs/documents;
- Warranty information; and
- Website/device information.
ACS may use information to:
- Process orders;
- Provide products/services;
- Program products;
- Communicate with Customers;
- Process cores;
- Handle returns;
- Evaluate warranty claims;
- Prevent fraud;
- Maintain transaction records;
- Improve services;
- Comply with legal obligations; and
- Protect ACS's lawful interests.
ACS may share information with service providers as reasonably necessary to operate the business, such as payment processors, shipping carriers, website providers, technology providers, professional advisers, and other providers involved in fulfilling Customer transactions.
ACS may also disclose information where required by law or reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, protect legal rights, or respond to lawful governmental requests.
ACS does not intend this policy to authorize the sale or disclosure of Customer information contrary to applicable law.
Customers may contact ACS at sales@autocomputerusa.com with privacy-related questions.
12Website Terms of Use+
Content on dieselacs.com is provided for general product and service information.
Customers should not rely upon website content as a substitute for proper professional vehicle diagnosis.
Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, ACS website content, original text, photographs, graphics, logos, product descriptions, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to ACS and may not be copied or commercially reused without authorization, subject to applicable law.
Prohibited Use
Users may not intentionally:
- Interfere with website operation;
- Attempt unauthorized access;
- Introduce malicious software;
- Scrape protected information in violation of applicable law;
- Impersonate another person;
- Submit fraudulent orders;
- Abuse warranty/return processes; or
- Use the website for unlawful activity.
Website Errors
ACS may correct typographical errors, pricing errors, compatibility errors, product-description errors, and other website mistakes, subject to applicable law.
13Warranty Claim / RMA Policy+
Customers must contact ACS before returning a product for warranty consideration.
ACS may require:
- ACS order/invoice number;
- Customer information;
- VIN;
- Current mileage;
- Part number;
- Serial number;
- Professional installation receipt;
- Installer contact information;
- Diagnostic codes;
- Scan reports;
- Power/ground tests;
- Charging-system tests;
- Programming records;
- Calibration/relearn records;
- Photos/videos;
- Core-return proof; and
- Other reasonably relevant diagnostic information.
Issuance of an RMA does not mean ACS has determined that the product is defective.
ACS may inspect and test the returned product before determining warranty eligibility.
14Product Identification & Anti-Swap Policy+
ACS may record or photograph:
- Serial numbers;
- Part numbers;
- Connectors;
- Pins;
- Cases/housings;
- Security seals;
- Internal identifiers;
- Programming information; and
- Other identifying characteristics.
Warranty applies only to the applicable ACS-supplied or ACS-serviced product.
Substitution of another product or inability to reasonably verify that the submitted product is the ACS product associated with the transaction may result in denial of the claim.
15Payment Disputes+
Customers should contact ACS promptly regarding order, product, return, repair, programming, or warranty concerns so ACS has a reasonable opportunity to investigate.
Nothing in these Terms restricts non-waivable rights provided by applicable law, card issuers, banks, or payment providers.
ACS may provide applicable transaction records, tracking, communications, authorizations, product photographs, programming information, warranty records, diagnostic records, and other relevant evidence when responding to an authorized payment dispute.

17Sales Channels & Marketplace Orders+
These ACS warranty, return, refund, core, diagnostic, installation, and related terms apply to applicable products and services sold by ACS through any authorized ACS sales channel, including but not limited to:
- dieselacs.com;
- eBay;
- Telephone orders;
- Email orders;
- In-person sales;
- ACS invoices or payment links;
- Third-party marketplaces;
- Authorized online sales platforms; and
- Other sales channels operated or used by ACS.
Unless a specific marketplace requires different terms or applicable law provides otherwise, the same ACS warranty conditions, exclusions, professional-installation requirements, proof requirements, core-return obligations, diagnostic fees, return limitations, and product-specific requirements apply regardless of where the Customer purchased the ACS product.
eBay Orders
Products purchased from an official ACS eBay account are subject to the applicable ACS Limited Lifetime Warranty, Return & Refund Policy, Core Return Policy, Professional Installation Requirements, Diagnostic & Testing Policy, and other applicable ACS terms, subject to eBay's mandatory marketplace policies and applicable law.
Where eBay provides the Customer with rights or remedies that cannot be modified by ACS, those eBay requirements will control to the extent of the conflict.
An eBay return request, case, or marketplace dispute does not automatically establish that an ACS product is defective.
ACS may require the same reasonable warranty documentation for an eBay warranty claim as for a direct ACS purchase, including:
- eBay order number;
- ACS invoice or transaction information;
- VIN;
- Mileage;
- Professional installation receipt;
- Installer information;
- Diagnostic trouble codes;
- Scan reports;
- Power and ground test results;
- Charging-system test results;
- Programming or relearn documentation;
- Photographs;
- Core-return proof where applicable; and
- Other information reasonably necessary to evaluate the claim.
eBay Returns vs. ACS Warranty
An eBay return period and the ACS Limited Lifetime Warranty are separate.
A Customer's eligibility for an eBay marketplace return does not automatically determine whether a product qualifies for an ACS warranty claim, and expiration of an eBay return period does not automatically terminate a valid ACS Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Any ACS warranty claim made after the applicable marketplace return period remains subject to the ACS warranty terms, professional-installation requirements, exclusions, testing procedures, and claim requirements.
Marketplace Communications
Customers purchasing through eBay or another marketplace should communicate through the applicable marketplace messaging system when required.
ACS may preserve marketplace messages, order information, tracking, installation documentation, diagnostic reports, photographs, programming records, and other transaction information as part of the applicable warranty or dispute record.
Conflict With Marketplace Rules
If an ACS policy conflicts with a mandatory eBay or other marketplace rule that applies to a particular transaction, the mandatory marketplace rule will control only to the extent of that conflict.
All other ACS terms remain applicable to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law and the marketplace's rules.
Important Legal Notice
These policies are intended to establish ACS's business policies and contractual terms while preserving rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
Nothing contained in these policies is intended to waive, eliminate, or restrict rights or remedies that applicable law does not permit ACS or a Customer to waive.
If any provision is determined to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions are intended to continue to apply to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Questions about a warranty, return or repair?
Contact ACS before returning a product. Warranty and RMA claims may require order, vehicle, installation and diagnostic documentation.
